The thesis investigated the health risks young travellers might face during their travel around the world.
The study examined the main risk factors of young travellers, the preparation of the travelling and preventing the health risks during travel as well as the effectiveness of the public health nurse informing the young travellers about the health risks.
The aim of this study was to investigate the main health risks of young travellers in the holiday destinations. Therefore, the preventive measures could be discovered from this study in order to minimize the risks.
The research was carried out in one of the Kokkola’s high schools. There were 83 participants in this study. Questionnaire were prepared in the study and then, analyzed with both quantitative and qualitative methods.
In this study, the participants revealed that there were only minor health problems and no injuries during their holidays. In addition, women were more scared of food poisoning and they also seek for public health nurse. Therefore, the participants needed more information about vaccinations and travel-related sicknesses before travelling abroad.
