The purpose of this thesis was to create a comprehensive brochure containing information which would enable the commissioning partner to identify intervention measures to curb challenges faced by immigrants when accessing public healthcare services. The thesis aims and objectives were to find out factors contributing to the challenges faced by immigrants when using public healthcare services.
This thesis adopted a descriptive literature review where previous thesis and articles relevant to the thesis topic were systematically reviewed for data collection. Data analysis was done through inductive qualitative content analysis.
The results indicated that immigrants in Finland deal with challenges categorised as structural such as long waiting times, cognitive including: language barrier, cultural diversity, & inadequate health literacy, and psychological: dissatisfaction with the Finnish healthcare system, fear and anxiety.
