Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate sustainable practices in the global food service sector. In particular, the researcher focuses on the food package issues and recycling strategies in Finland and Australia. A mixed-method approach that combines qualitative and quantitative research has been applied in order to deliver a comprehensive overview of the current situation of sustainable practices in the two countries. An analysis of the food service industry’s environmental impact, global trends in sustainability, and the nature of international business allows to reveal the complex internal connections between global drivers and sustainability practices. Thus, the research helps to identify successful strategies and novel opportunities to achieve the best sustainability levels in the food service sectors in Finland and Australia that might also be applicable globally.
