Tiivistelmä
The thesis investigated the Finnish restaurant industry, the market, and customer choices nowadays to learn more about the Asian food scene in Finland. The thesis intended to find out whether it is possible to open an Asian restaurant in Helsinki, and if so, by which means to run an Asian restaurant successfully with consumer satisfaction. This study aimed to discover current trends and buyer tastes to find the most popular Asian restaurants in Helsinki and determine how to keep customers returning. The objectives of this thesis were also to find out what kind of Asian food people in Helsinki want so that Asian restaurant owners can improve their businesses. The primary data for this study was collected through a survey of 33 people who live in Helsinki.
The thesis explored theoretical topics about consumer behavior, the restaurant market of Finland, opportunities and risks of opening an Asian restaurant, and possible marketing ways for Asian restaurants intending to open an Asian restaurant in Helsinki. The thesis discussed how the food industry affects business, science, society, and culture. The thesis then examines the problems of Finland's food business, mainly caused by the economy and tourists. The thesis discussed how an Asian restaurant will be able to succeed in Helsinki, which has a business-friendly environment and a diverse population. The thesis found that when Asian restaurants in Helsinki want to get their food out to people, they use email marketing, social media ads, event planning, working with local cooks, and delivery.
15-question survey was sent to 33 people living in Helsinki to determine their opinions about Asian restaurants. Mathematical and statistical methods were used to organise and analyse the data. Results suggested that a simplified menu with online reviews, delivery, and low prices would be efficient. The study recommended that the most important things for an Asian restaurant in Helsinki to draw and retain customers are fresh food, a varied menu, and a friendly atmosphere.
