Design and development of a cloud budget reporting solution

Abstract

The study was carried out in cooperation with Knowit Solutions Oy. The thesis report provides an overview of the process of creating the cloud budget reporting tool for Knowit Solutions Oy client company. The tool improves the transparency of the cloud costs for stakeholders cost-efficiently and securely. The development process focused on creating a solution that adds value to the client by addressing existing challenges in cloud budget monitoring. The report provides an overview of the Azure resources and details how the design of the solution was tailored to meet the client's needs. Several challenges were encountered during the development, including the depreciation of an authentication library and limitations within Azure products. The functionality of the reporting tool addresses the client's issue of notifying owners about budget status, and the solution has been deemed a ready product. The report explores opportunities for further development. In conclusion, the reporting solution, despite its simplicity, delivers business value for the client.
