Tiivistelmä
This developmental thesis addresses the current need for promoting equity and inclusion in early childhood education and care. The outcome of this paper is a guidebook for educators to use as a tool to promote equity and inclusion in their daily work. The content of the guidebook is based on a theoretical framework emphasizing equity, fairness, inclusion, and essential teaching methods. Moreover, practical strategies and activities, such as cooperative play, identity exploration, and emotional education are further explained. The aim is to promote integration of diversity into educational settings and give room for pedagogical notes and evaluation of the effectiveness and overall goals.
Through research and collaboration with ‘By the Sea’ daycare, this thesis combines theory and practice, providing resources for creating a guidebook. Throughout this thesis process, the work-life partner gave critical feedback for further improvement regarding relevance and effectiveness. The results contribute to advancing equity and inclusion in ECE and offer practical tools for ECE educators.
