Tiivistelmä
In the contemporary digital landscape, the significance of a professional online appearance in the entry-level job seeking process has become crucial. This thesis undertakes a comprehensive exploration of this matter through a combination of theoretical analysis of marketing and branding studies, and empirical data collected from interviews with recruiters involved in entry-level hiring. Employing qualitative research methods, data was gathered from a pool of hiring managers across various industries in order to identify the aspects of digital appearance on platforms like LinkedIn affecting the job search success. The findings reveal that recruiters prefer to see complete and tailored profiles showcasing a pro-active attitude. Moreover, detailed practical recommendations are offered to entry-level job seekers, including maintaining a consistent and polished online presence as well as its alignment with professional goals and organizational cultures. This thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of the role a professional digital appearance has in entry-level job seeking and offers valuable guidance for individuals navigating the complexities of the competitive job market at early career stages.
