This thesis examines the significant effects of the COVID-19 epidemic on Nepal's thriving hotel industry with a focus on doing a thorough comparative analysis. Nepal declared 2020 with the slogan "Visit Nepal," with high tourism aims. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a destructive blow to the industry, leading to sharp declines in occupancy rates and revenue because of travel bans and lockdowns. While the business is on the road to recovery thanks to government backing and reinvigorated marketing initiatives, Nepal's hotel sector still has significant growth potential, providing promise for a better future as global travel slowly picks up.
The impact of COVID-19 on Nepal's hotel sector has been profound, leading to significant financial setbacks and operational challenges. The pandemic resulted in a sharp decline in tourist arrivals, directly affecting the hotel industry by causing widespread closures, revenue losses, and workforce reductions. Moreover, stringent health and safety protocols further strained operations, requiring adaptations to ensure guest and staff well-being while navigating uncertain market conditions.
This thesis seeks to present a thorough understanding of how the pandemic affected the hotel industry in Nepal, as well as insights into the sector's changes and resilience. This research provides information to policymakers, hotel industry stakeholders, and the larger academic community by analyzing various elements of the sector's pre- and post-pandemic performance. This thesis seeks to explain the changes and adaptability of Nepal's hotel business by conducting a thorough analysis of the pandemic's effects. Examining pre- and post-pandemic performance provides insightful information for stakeholders, politicians, and the academic community. By means of a rigorous analysis, this research provides crucial insights into the dynamics of the sector, enabling players to make educated decisions and effectively handle possibilities and difficulties in the wake of the epidemic.
