This thesis is intended to study the process of adopting Enterprise resource planning systems in a few sampled small and medium-sized enterprises in Arab Gulf countries as exemplified by the studied companies to represent this segment of businesses in this geographical area. It only attempts to make a step towards better understanding of what influences the Enterprise resource planning adoption of Arab Gulf of the Middle Eastern Enterprise resource planning and what generally determines the move from legacy systems towards Enterprise resource planning systems. This process of adopting the concept of Enterprise resource planning is usually a demanding process for small and medium-sized enterprises and there is a need for providing some guiding insights for such small entities to use in this process.
Three companies that meet the requirements of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Arab Gulf region were sampled in the current study and their experience was studied. Determinants of the adoption process for Enterprise resource planning were studied and compared with the findings of previous studies. Recommendations for further research were also given to help shed more light on the areas that still need more research.
