Tiivistelmä
This study has been commissioned by the Diesel engine piston manufacturer Componenta Pietarsaari MS oy c/o componenta Pistons, located in Pietarsaari, Finland.
The research focuses on a thorough case study of the lean transformation process that begun in the company back in 2007. A lean transformation process in a manufacturing company takes between three to five years to fully implement, and aims at achieving higher productivity, shorter lead time, better quality, more satisfied customers and ultimately more profits.
The emphasis of the research has been to evaluate whether these objectives have been achieved, and finding out how a lean transformation process is implemented in a manufacturing company.
