Since the 20th century, the multinational operations have developed in a trend of rapid growth, especially those of direct international investment, which arc becoming the largest and most active forms. On implementing multinational operational strategies or activities, modern enterprises often meet the biggest problem that the international public cultural differences bring with communication obstacles, which are cross-cultural differences of the cultural distance between home country and host country. Pinding a company aim beyond cultural conflict in the management process to maintain the behavior criterion for employees of different cultural backgrounds is the central task for cross-cultural management. At present, the domestic cross-cultural management research is just in an initial stage, and most articles indicate that the human resource management shall differ in respective cultural background with the differences between different national human resource managements as research target, but concern little or even none on that how the different human resource management methods can coexist, integrate and develop in an enterprise.
This paper's main parts are: summarization and description of relationship between culture and management; interpretation of cultural conflicts in cross-cultural management referring to the cross-cultural operation of multinational corporations; cultural integration of crosscultural management; cross-cultural management research with case of multinational corporations in China.
