The aim of the thesis was to give some direction about the markets for starting a car import company. Secondly, the research was based facts and practices on the European car sales. It was aimed to help forming a practical business plan frames and a general knowledge base for a car import company. Thirdly, the thesis focus on giving answers about importing and exporting different types of cars in Europe. There is a market research about the price levels of used cars included in the thesis.
Thesis research was made in order to answer some practical, legal and market questions. This knowledge was implemented in a project to import a car to Finland. The thesis project concerned a car that was imported from Sweden. Besides this, different car models were compared on the best import possibilities and potential profit margins on the market. The importance of a good research on the markets was underlined throughout the research.
The information found in the thesis supports a stai1ing of a car import company with information from several different areas: taxation, rules, practical advises and research in price levels. There can be different conclusions made with the findings that help to avoid mistakes and encourage towards strategies that help a beginning business to grow.
