Tiivistelmä
The goal of this thesis was the 3D modelling of a cylinder head for a vintage car engine, which will be used in the manufacturing of a mould for the purpose of casting a small run of replacement cylinder heads.
This thesis goes over the basics of Additive manufacturing and casting, and how those technologies can be combined to form parts which were previously difficult or cost-prohibitive to make. Subsequently, the process of 3D modelling the cylinder head, the changes made to the original design and the adaptation of the 3D model for casting are explained.
The conclusion of this work is a successfully modelled cylinder head which was adapted to the requirements of casting and sent forward to a casting company to await manufacturing.
