Tiivistelmä
The purpose of the study was to help travelers address challenges and misunderstandings they face while visiting Seoul, South Korea using an electronic guidebook. The thesis focused on gathering information to help tourists overcome certain difficulties while visiting Seoul for the first time.
South Korea became a popular destination over the last ten years, with Seoul being the most popular destination for international tourists. However, they face difficulties while planning and staying in the destination. Upon evaluating personal experience in visiting various destinations, the identified difficulties were pre-trip planning, usage of public transportation system, etiquette or cultural differences, usage of local mobile applications as a helpful tool and language barrier.
The product of the thesis is an electronic guidebook that discusses identified difficulties and describes ways to resolve them. The data was mainly gathered from either various official tourism organizations or from blogs about travelling to South Korea.
The future analysis of usefulness of the guidebook is needed, as well as some other suggestions, such as collaboration with a commissioner or extended data gathering by conducting interviews or surveys.
