This thesis analyses the competitive landscape for Sharetribe Oy, a Helsinki-based SaaS company focused on building online marketplace solutions. The research examines Sharetribe’s top competitors—MyMarketplace Builder, Kreezalid, and Arcadier Express. The goal of the thesis is to inform Sharetribe’s customer support, onboarding, and product development strategies.
The project involved a competitor analysis using benchmarking and SWOT frameworks, grounded in competitive analysis and marketplace feature requirements. Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and a weighted scoring model assessed each competitor on essential features, service criteria, and customisability.
The findings reveal varied strengths and limitations among competitors in areas like user experience, scalability, and payment integration. MyMarketplace Builder offers core marketplace features but the usability of the platform is limited. Kreezalid provides flexibility and many third party integration options but lacks diverse payment methods that can serve customers globally. Arcadier Express supports advanced user profiles but the customer support is limited.
The research provides actionable insights for Sharetribe’s strategy and product roadmap planning. Sharetribe can improve its competitiveness by identifying and addressing any potential usability, scalability and support gaps in its own product.
