Age-Inclusive Hotel Amenities in Vietnam and Finland

Abstract

This thesis explores how Finnish age-inclusive hotel infrastructure models can be adapted to address the specific needs of Vietnamese hospitality, particularly for multigenerational travelers such as families with children and elderly guests. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to examine gaps in Vietnamese hotel infrastructure, including accessibility limitations, insufficient child and elder-friendly amenities, and service inconsistencies. Finnish hotels, recognized for their innovative universal design principles, serve as a benchmark for creating inclusive spaces that enhance guest experiences across all age groups. Based on these findings, the study proposes practical strategies for Vietnamese hotels, including the implementation of adaptable design elements, improved safety standards, and tailored amenities to accommodate diverse traveler needs. The research contributes to the development of inclusive tourism in Vietnam, aligning the hospitality sector with global best practices while promoting sustainable and accessible tourism growth.
