Tiivistelmä
The goal of this study was to investigate the role of culture in shaping hospitality management practices at Subway fast-food restaurants in Nigeria. To achieve this, the study employed the case study approach. Qualitative survey questions were used for data collection as it aligned with qualitative research design which is suitable for a case study. The study entailed a total of 20 participants from fast-food staff and repeat customers selected through purposive sampling.
A thematic analysis conducted on the data findings revealed that factors such as cultural sensitivity and sensitivity training, multicultural team dynamics, cultural integration and adaptation, community engagement, local influence, economic accessibility, pricing sensitivity, perceptions of service and service quality, cultural values and norms as well as management and service system are crucial requirements for understanding the role of culture and operational efficiency in the Nigerian context. Against this background recommendations were offered to allay the cultural challenge of the restaurant.
