This study examines the leisure travel preferences and behaviors of Bangladeshi immigrants living in the Greater Helsinki Area, aiming to identify key factors influencing their travel decisions, preferred destinations, and the challenges they encounter when planning leisure trips. The research highlights the increasing relevance of understanding immigrant travel behaviors, with a specific focus on the Bangladeshi immigrant community in Helsinki.
The literature review explores previous studies on immigrant travel patterns, emphasizing cultural, financial, and logistical challenges faced by immigrants. It also examines how demographic factors like age, gender, and income impact travel decisions and identifies gaps in existing research regarding the leisure travel preferences of Bangladeshi immigrants.
The methodology section details the quantitative research design, employing surveys to gather data on the travel preferences of Bangladeshi immigrants. It discusses the data collection process using primary data collection technique, sample size of (n=115) respondents, analysis techniques used is descriptive statistics, and ethical considerations.
The results chapter presents key findings from the survey data, revealing that younger immigrants are the most active travelers. Financial constraints, cultural familiarity, and fear of discrimination meaning-fully influence their destination choices. The chapter also highlights essential services such as itinerary planning, accommodation assistance, and visa support.
The conclusion synthesizes the findings with existing literature, concluding that demographic, econom-ic, and cultural factors shape the leisure travel behaviors of Bangladeshi immigrants. The chapter also discusses challenges such as visa issues, financial limitations, language barriers, and fear of discrimina-tion, providing valuable insights for travel service providers looking to better serve this demographic.
