Tiivistelmä
The target of the thesis was to explore how digital experiences and business opportunities at Nokia Arena could be elevated to a new level. The primary focus was on enhancing the spectator experience in the restaurants at Nokia Arena using Virtual Reality and immersive screens. The project was carried out in collaboration between Laurea University of Applied Sciences and Nokia Corporation.

The project utilized the Design Sprint methodology developed by Jake Knapp, which emphasizes rapid prototyping and gathering customer feedback. The Design Thinking methods included brainstorming, benchmarking, building a prototype and customer surveys. The survey received 273 responses, revealing significant interest in mobile ordering systems 64.8% and moderate willingness to pay for VR experiences 47.2%. The survey also highlighted issues, such as long queues at Nokia Arena events, which the proposed solutions aim to address.

The key concepts included the use of VR glasses for both live and remote viewing of the events, immersive screens with multiple camera angles and real-time statistics, and mobile ordering systems for food and drink. The solutions will reduce congestion during intermissions, encourage customers to spend more time utilizing restaurant services, improve overall customer satisfaction, and increase restaurant revenue through premium services and sponsorship opportunities.

The findings demonstrate that VR and immersive technologies will have strong potential to enhance customer experiences and will drive business growth at Nokia Arena. It was recommended to extend the solution to other Tampere sport bars. The VR environment can be used for sponsoring purposes, the future scope will be to improve the concept by further research and testing.
