This thesis researches how international students can be guided toward a lower carbon footprint. The aim was to resolve international students' sustainability level and what ways the guidance is best to receive from the student's point of view.
To be able to evaluate the need for guidance it was needed to break up the students living into subsections and individually analyze the opportunities and decisions that come while studying at LAB Lahti. Guidance can be executed after sustainable living opportunities have been cleared fundamentally.
With the result of this work, the aim was to understand the foundation of international students’ preferences towards carbon footprint communication. The aim was also to lower the carbon footprint of students and build awareness. In addition one of the key points was to build a foundation for carbon footprint communication and execution procedures. This Thesis is a useful database for sustainable marketing strategy for LAB.
Data for the study was collected using surveys and interviews. The results of the thesis indicate that there were opportunities to shape one's mobility in a more sustainable and economical direction. There were several possibilities for international students' sustainable lifestyles. However, the living cost expenses will be slightly increasing in the near future and the students have to make personal cost-effective decisions to be able to study in LAB.
