Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis was to create a structured approach and frameworks to grow corporate departments through internal mergers and acquisitions. To illustrate practical applications, a case study was conducted on the Global Travel and Expenses (T&E) Team. The study was initiated by identifying relevant articles and theories to support the rationale, including the resource-based, organizational integration, and ambidextrous organization theories.

A conceptual framework was developed based on these theories, focusing on core concepts such as processes, resources, and governance. Within this framework, key objectives were established: an opportunity assessment methodology was defined, a cost-savings identification framework was designed, a structured governance model was created, and a team integration roadmap was developed. This holistic approach provided thorough guidance on integrating departments effectively and offered a well-structured framework for management to use.

The results of the study were highly insightful. Frameworks were rolled out to perform data analytics and collect qualitative and quantitative insights, which proved to be instrumental. The case study on the T&E team revealed significant integration opportunities. Given the company's corporate objective of increasing EBITDA margins, the proposed approach was found to align strategically with organizational growth goals.

In conclusion, the study demonstrated that these structured frameworks and methodologies could effectively facilitate departmental growth and integration, supporting broader corporate objectives.
