Tiivistelmä
The thesis looks at the overview of Finland’s energy production, usage, and efficiency. It explores energy transition through renewables in particular biogas production and utilisation as a substitute for fossil fuels in terms of transportation carbon footprint. In the beginning chapters the thesis looks at an overview of the anaerobic digestion, availability, process of converting feedstock to biogas, the number of biogas vehicles on Finland roads and the potential financing of renewable energy projects and the en-ergy framework. The final part looks at a case of a construction company exploring the possibility of decarbonising their transportation vans by transitioning from diesel to biogas powered vehicles. The case study analyses the environmental impact, economic viability and return on investment.
