Onboarding processes are constantly evolving, increasingly integrating gamification—game design elements applied to non-game contexts. This study investigates gamification as an onboarding tool using a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative data from online semi-structured interviews with quantitative insights from an online survey.
Theoretical frameworks, including Bauer's Six C's, Self-Determination Theory, Kolb’s Experi-ential Learning Theory, Information Processing Theory, and the GAFCC Gamification Design Model were utilized to examine gamification’s potential.
Findings from empirical data and theory highlight gamification's potential to enhance onboarding by improving engagement, learning, and motivation, offering practical insights for its implementation.
