Tiivistelmä
Postpartum anxiety (PPA) is a common but often under-looked and underestimated mental health condition affecting new mothers, with significant implications for both the mother and child relationship. This work explores the experiences of women with postpartum anxiety and its effect on mother and offspring. The study highlights the need for greater awareness, early detection, and tailored interventions to address the unique needs of women experiencing postpartum anxiety.
The purpose of this research is to improve maternal and infant relationships and to promote long term wellbeing. A descriptive method was used to analyse the results collected from scholarly sources and evidence-based articles relevant to the topic.
The data search articles were obtained from CINAHL, PUBMED and Elsevier which are reliable data bases. The research findings showed that the experience of postpartum anxiety and its triggers is different for everyone. A major reason for worsening symptoms was mostly because new mothers especially lacked adequate knowledge about the mental instabilities that can possibly affect them during this period. Meanwhile other cause of worsening situation was the fact that patients weren’t following their treatment plans properly. Therefore, to treat post-partum anxiety effectively, nurses, care teams need to work together with patients, family and community.
