Tiivistelmä
This bachelor’s thesis is about mental health issues among adolescents in Finland and how the number of mental health-related problems has been on the rise lately. We will also look into how these mental health issues of youth show in acute care.
This thesis topic is important globally, but specifically in Finland. Mental health of adolescents is declining. What are the possible reasons and effects? How can healthcare help these people and in this situation?
Acute care is an important part of getting help with mental health problems. Are healthcare professionals in acute settings prepared and educated enough in the matter of psychiatric issues? How does the assessment of need of care in Finland meet the requirements of a mental health patient in acute care?
The youth of today are the professionals, workers and caregivers of tomorrow. If we have a generation of adolescents with mental health problems, then it is nationally draining situation to be solved.
