Purpose - The study's goal is to identify common e-commerce frauds that victimize people in Bangladesh, identify and analyse the main causes of Bangladesh's e-commerce scams and examine Bangladeshi e-commerce scammers' techniques.
Methodology - Both structured and semi-structured interview questions were asked to participants to collect data. Fifteen victims were selected using snowball sampling and with the help of purposive sampling, several key informants were chosen. Thematic analysis technique was used to analyse the collected data.
Findings - The study findings show that the most prevalent scams in Bangladesh involve Ponzi
schemes, phishing scams, fake online stores, payment fraud, non-delivery of products, and identity theft. Consumers' extensive ignorance, lack of digital proficiency, and absence of strong cyber-security protocols are most significant factors behind these fraudulent activities. Scammers use strategies such as phishing messages, fake shops, emotional manipulation to deceive customers.
Limitations - The experience and viewpoints of selected participants are the only sources of in formation used in research.
