This thesis illustrated the importance of play-based learning in Early childhood Education and Care (ECEC) and practical guidebook designed for purpose of supporting educators in implementing best pedagogical practices into daily routine for effective development of learning of the children. The component of the thesis includes real life observation, practical implementation, knowledge and the structure that holds the research theory, thesis illustrate combination of an idea how play is important in supporting holistic growth and development in every child.
The purpose of this, with emphasizes on the child -learning is based on the past research and Finnish National Core Curriculum. Through literature review, observations and practical experiences educators benefited with identifying the possible challenges and benefits of play-based learning in ECEC educational settings. To response to these findings the thesis presents a practical guidebook for educators. The guidebook offers methods, classroom examples, activities, benefits, challenges, planning tools that educators should use to create healthy, joyful and inclusive environment for the children to support their holistic growth and learning. This thesis illustrates the importance of play base learning and how it improves children's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
Thesis output(guidebook)provided professional understanding on planning daily routines, play activities and ensuring a good flexible, learning, and inclusive learning environment.
The main target group of this thesis is Early childhood educators, all supporting staff including substitutes and children age 0-6 years in Early Childhood Education and Care. Thesis has been mostly concentrated and followed Finnish National Core Curriculum. Thesis has been conducted as a development-based thesis and in portfolio format in Bulb.
