Tiivistelmä
Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd is a regional development company that helps customers establish companies. The study explored the challenges of immigrant entrepreneurs in the Päijät-Häme region and, in connection with this, the challenges faced by the business development managers of LADEC. The study aimed to provide recommendations to LADEC to help them establish more immigrant-owned businesses.
A qualitative research method was utilized in this study. Primary data was gained by conducting semi-structured interviews. A thematic analysis was done for the data analysis process. Secondary data was gathered from previous literature on this topic. Later, the primary and secondary data were combined in the discussion chapter.
The results revealed similar and individual challenges that immigrant entrepreneurs and business development managers face. Interviewees emphasized linguistic barriers and bureaucratic issues the most. Business development managers highlighted cultural differences. The results on the challenges of immigrant entrepreneurship supported previous research in the field. The challenges identified were then used as inspiration to generate development ideas to improve LADEC's services.
