Tiivistelmä
In our thesis we write about automated functional tests for REST APIs. We also describe software testing in general as well as the technologies used in the project. The project was commissioned by an external employer and the goal was to create automated tests that thoroughly test the APIs for an application in a credit management system. At the end of our thesis we go through how we actually implemented the project.
The purpose of the project was to decrease the amount of manual regression testing over time as well as increase the quality of the application.
In the project we have used frameworks such as Cucumber, to write tests in natural language, and WireMock to mock communication between the application and external services.
The result was a testing environment where it is easy to write new tests, as well as a collection of tests that acts as a proof of concept.
