Tiivistelmä
The aim of this thesis was to create a learning video for Centria nursing students on patient guidance and education during pregnancy. The thesis focuses on outlining why it is important to focus on healthy nutrition during pregnancy. The purpose of the thesis was to highlight the drawbacks faced by pregnant women, especially those from socially disadvantageous groups. It also focuses on barriers hindering them from eating food which is key for both their health and the health of their developing foetus.
The health Belief Model (HBM) was chosen as the theoretical model of the research, as it focuses on the perceived level of vulnerability and severity and perceived benefits that could influence the diet of the pregnant women. The project design encompassed 4 important phases: preparation, planning implementation and closure. With appropriate systematic review, knowledge was gathered using evidence-based database such as PUBMED, Science Direct, EBSCO, Centria library. The outcomes of this study aided the production of a PowerPoint learning video specifically designed for nursing students. The video addresses the importance of nutrition, food dietary intake, healthy balanced diets. A work-life partner and steering group assisted during the particular aspect of the project to ensure the video was complaint to the educational goals and was useful for practical training for the students
