Tiivistelmä
This thesis analyzes the characteristics that influence young individuals, specifically those between the ages of 18 and 35, when choosing tourist locations in Nepal. Since youth travel is a rapidly expanding sector of the global tourist business, it is essential to improve domestic tourism strategies by comprehending the preferences, motivations, and decision-making processes of Nepalese young. The goal of the study is to pinpoint the main elements that influence traveller choice, such as financial concerns, environmental and cultural preferences, accessibility, and the impact of social media and digital platforms.
A structured online survey with 156 responses was used in a descriptive quantitative research approach. To find patterns and trends, data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The results show that among young people, adventure and ecotourism are the most popular forms of travel. Travel decisions are greatly influenced by social media sites like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Peer recommendations, cultural value, accessibility, and budget also turned out to be significant factors. Notably, many respondents were unwilling to pay more for eco friendly products, indicating that environmental concerns had little influence. Inadequate infrastructure also deterred people from visiting some places.
The report points to important issues like poor infrastructure and a lack of awareness about sustainability, but it also emphasizes the growing role of peer pressure and internet involvement on adolescent travel in Nepal. For tourism stakeholders looking to create more successful, youth-focused tourism policies and activities, these insights provide insightful advice.
