This thesis explores the psychological and philosophical implications of the human being in video games, drawing from Carl Jung’s theory of the persona and Arthur Schopenhauer’s concept of the world as will and representation. The study examines how video games can serve as a medium for identity exploration, self-discovery, and emotional storytelling. The practical component of this research involves the development of a 2D platformer game, where masks function as core gameplay mechanics representing different aspects of the protagonist’s psyche. Through solving challenges and interacting with the world, the player gradually reconstructs their true self. The game’s narrative is deeply rooted in psychological and philosophical concepts, aiming to create a meaningful experience that resonates with players.
