Tiivistelmä
This thesis analyzed Aceitunas El Serpis’s internationalization project and its entry into Finland. The goal was to assess the strategic feasibility of exporting Spanish table olives to a non-Mediterranean country and determine the possibilities for growth within the agri-food industry.
The study evaluated external market opportunities, as well as the internal resources and capabilities of the advancing firm, utilizing a combination of theoretical frameworks like PESTEL, SWOT, and Porter’s Five Forces, alongside empirical field research conducted in Lahti. Such approaches enabled an understanding of consumer behavior alongside competition as well as the governing consumer law.
The most appropriate method of placing table olives into the market was identified to be direct exporting with agreement contracts to the major Finnish supermarket chains. These would guarantee optimal visibility while at the same time offering brand control and fitting within the consumers' purchase patterns.
