Tiivistelmä
The objective of the thesis project was to design and implement a visually appealing, simple and user-friendly Shopify online store to support the client’s business goals. This thesis was commissioned by Sanjas, a one-person jewelry business, specializing in customized handmade accessories. The main beneficiaries of this work are the client herself and her customers, who now have a centralized, functional platform to browse and purchase jewelry products.
The development task involved understanding the client’s business needs, defining website requirements and creating a Shopify-based e-commerce site that reflects the brand’s identity while improving usability and online presence. The theoretical framework model is based on Shopify App Development short model, UX/UI principles and small business digital commerce needs.
Data collection methods included qualitative research such as client interviews, desktop research and competitor analysis. Usability testing and user feedback were also gathered to evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented design.
Key findings showed that a simple and well-structured online store significantly improved product visibility and user experience for the client. The implementation of UX-based design decisions contributed to easier navigation, better product showcasing and improved customer engagement. The project provides the importance of user-centered design when developing digital platforms for small creative businesses.
This project shows that even a small, personalized Shopify store can have a meaningful impact for independent jewelry designers looking to reach and connect with more customers online.
