Exploring dropping out trends and career outcomes of Bangladeshi IT students in Finnish universities of applied sciences : challenges and insights

The thesis rigorously examined the dropout trends and post-study career trajectories of Bangladeshi IT students enrolled in universities of applied sciences (UAS) in Finland. Its primary objective was to identify the fundamental challenges contributing to academic discontinuation and to understand how these students navigate their careers following either the cessation or completion of their studies. A mixed research methodology was employed. A survey was conducted online using Google Forms. Additionally, semi-structured face-to-face interviews were conducted with some students to cross-check the data obtained online. Students from various UAS expressed their experiences. 
The findings indicate that financial difficulties, challenges in securing internships, language barriers, elevated tuition fees, and insufficient academic support contribute to student dropout rates. Despite these obstacles, a subset of students has completed their degrees; however, most still face unemployment.
The study concludes that the development of participatory education, as opposed to self-study, alongside the provision of scholarships and internship support, as well as the assurance of cooperation concerning culture and language, may contribute to a reduction in dropout rates and an enhancement of the career success rate for Bangladeshi students.
