Tiivistelmä
This thesis is a part of an EU project called "e-chance for women" which aim is to prepare a methodological base for ICT-courses for women having lack of computer skills and for ICT-trainers teaching such courses. The assumption behind the project is that there is a difference between the ways how females and males learn.

The aim of the thesis was to collect and analyze opinions of women about possible ICT-courses specially designed for women. The aim was also to compare the opinions with opinions of the respondents interviewed earlier in different countries participating in the project.

The survey was done through questionnaires spread out among women who had attended various ICT-courses.

According to the general findings, the respondents had access to computers, although not all of them used computers at work. Most of the respondents were employed, and their reason for attending ICT-courses was not to get better salary or better chance to find new job with the possession of new computer skills. This was true for the women interviewed earlier, as most of them were unemployed or their employment was under threat because of lack of computer skills.

Another different feature compared to those women interviewed earlier was that the respondents used computers mostly in private, and their desire to learn more about ICT came from personal interest rather than work requirements.

Concerning gender issues, most of the respondents were not sure about the necessity of organising separate !CT-courses for women. At the same time, their opinions reflected their beliefs and assumptions, not real life experience, as none of them had attended gender-oriented ICT-courses before. Such an aspect also should be considered while making the decision about creating special methodology for ICT-courses for women or not.
