Purpose: The purpose of this final thesis was to survey the client satisfaction of the elderly towards the health clinic services. The aim of the research was to provide information which could be used in the development of the senior clinic that will be started in Kokkola.
Background: The idea for doing this research was raised from the media where the position of the elderly in our society has been constantly debated. Also the Health Care Centre of Kokkola needed material for their developmental work.
Method: This study is qualitative. The target group of this research was the elderly over 60 years old who use the health clinic services in Kokkola. There were 42 clients participating in the study between April-August 2007. The data was collected with semi structured questionnaires, which public health nurses gave to the clients when they came to the clinic. The data was analysed manually.
Results: The essential result was that there are some differences in the experiences and opinions between the clients. Most of the clients felt that their needs have been met but there were some things that could need improvement. A large percent of the clients received their information from somewhere else than from the clinic. Many of the clients seemed to have need for informational services, such as guidance for healthy eating habits and information about other health care services. There were also practical needs such as a place to measure blood pressure.
