Tiivistelmä
Environmental protection and reduction of emissions have become an important issue with the growing technology. There is urgency and need of developing and coming up with ways to improve the situation and using of renewable energy among other things is one of the encouraging steps that will help to achieve the goals.
Heat pumps are a new technology and their market is growing rapidly, showing a dramatic rise in their use both industrial and residential. It is a safe technology and friendly to environment and their use have shown a positive change in emission reduction.
Air-source heat pump is one of the common types of heat pumps used. When properly installed, it can deliver one and a half to three times more heat energy to a home compared to the electrical energy it consumed.
Heat pumps moves heat rather than converting it from a fuel, like in combustion heating systems. Air-source heat pump provides efficient heating for a home during winter time and during summer they can be reversed and used to cool a home. They use outside air as heat source and sink and their performance depends on the ambient air temperatures.
Air-to-air heat pumps are attractive complementary systems for saving energy in most of the new houses in Finland. The heat pump can take free energy from outside air at temperatures up to -l 5°C and produce directly warmed air for heating the house.About half the heating energy required can be taken from outside air in Finland.
