Tiivistelmä
The thesis work studied the marketing actions sellers can take on second-hand platforms. Thesis covered multiple practical methods to apply to the second-hand platforms. The platforms that were covered in the thesis were Vinted, Tori.fi and eBay.
The study was done because there was need for a guide and little research has been conducted in this area. Another reason for why the study was conducted, was the increased popularity of second-hand platforms and the thesis writers’ own interest in marketing and second-hand platforms.
The thesis was done using qualitative research method. Qualitative research method gave the thesis an opportunity to study and compare information. It also enabled the thesis writer to make observations and conclude their thinking.
Two methods had been chosen for analysing method. The analysing methods chosen were descriptive and prescriptive. Descriptive analysing method provided knowledge about the current situation of second-hand markets and the reasons behind its rise. Prescriptive analysing method gave the thesis a practical approach. The prescriptive method was focused on providing recommendations to the reader and predict the results of the action.
The study concludes that sellers ought to be active and perform marketing activities to receive conversions. Study also found many marketing activities that can be performed on the platforms to drive sales. The study is a guide for sellers in second-hand platform marketing and ought to be used as instructed.
