Market and Technical Competitor Analysis of an MLOps Product

Abstract

This Bachelor’s thesis is a research-based project conducted for a commissioner, Company X, for their machine learning operations, MLOps, platform. Primarily a literary review, the thesis uses academic texts, journals, papers, and articles from relevant authors and organisations active within the MLOps field. The thesis seeks to discover potential avenues of expansion for Product Y, potential generative AI functions that could be integrated into it, and potential development ideas drawn from examining the market and competing products. The thesis’s findings indicate that, as the MLOps market is in rapid growth, sectors such as manufacturing and the energy sector would be ideal expansions for Product Y due to being data-heavy. Product Y would also greatly benefit from a generative AI function that would allow for the generation of reports and summaries based on analysed data. The thesis suggests that Company X dedicate resources into investigating the possibility of adding a cloud-agnostic design to Product Y. This would not only result in greater redundancy, but also in improved competitiveness. The thesis emphasises that a more in-depth investigation and market analysis should be conducted to reaffirm its findings, due to the rapidly changing nature of the market.
