Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, particularly Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), in supporting the onboarding process within hybrid workplace in Finland. As hybrid work model, become increasingly common, HR professionals need to be sure about the consistent onboarding experiences across both physical and remote settings.

The objective of this thesis is to explore the role of AI tools in the onboarding stage within hybrid workplaces in Finland, and to identify the opportunities, challenges, and limitations these technologies present. A qualitative research method was employed, utilizing semi-structured interviews with five HR professionals working in hybrid environments across various industries in Finland. An inductive approach was adopted for data analysis, and thematic analysis was conducted to identify recurring patterns and generate insights.

The findings reveal that AI tools are effective in streamlining administrative tasks, reducing workload, standardizing processes, and providing personalized learning experiences during the onboarding stage. However, significant challenges remain in fostering social integration, employee engagement, and a sense of connection, particularly for remote hires. Participants emphasized that while AI tools enhance technical efficiency, they must be complemented by human support to ensure an inclusive and holistic onboarding experience.

This study contributes to both academic research and practical HR applications by demonstrating that AI tools are valuable assets in hybrid onboarding processes. However, they cannot manage the process alone, especially when it comes to cultural aspects. The findings highlight the importance of HR profes-sionals maintaining a balance between digital automation and human-centered strategies to enhance onboarding outcomes in Finland.
