Tiivistelmä
The prime objective of this thesis was to explore the complications that the visually impaired face when either sending or receiving postal packaging in Finland, and to attempt to design sustainable and accessible alternatives to the current options to improve their overall user experience.
To answer the proposed research questions, three types of new postal packaging were designed for this thesis based on background research, a target group survey and an experiment that was conducted using glasses that simulate visual impairment. The proposed work is the result of both ergonomic and visual design.
The conducted survey revealed a need for more accessible postal packaging solutions, and all the concerns voiced by the respondents, as well as the experiment participants, were considered during the design process. For further research, the final designs should be tested by visually impaired individuals to confirm their effectiveness.
