Education export is currently regarded as one of the fastest-growing phenomena in the global educa-tional market and enormous future potential was predicted. Further, it was identified as an element in the service economy by researchers, contributed to the development of related industries and sectors.
Finland’s educational model has been recognized as one of the best systems and it has been researched by international academics, educators, and pedagogists. Due to this global interest in education export, Finland classified it as one of the most important national agendas. Therefore, export practitioners showed significant interest in exporting Finnish education abroad. with adjustments made to ensure their suitability for other countries and its policies. Due to the fact that educational systems could not be implemented in other countries with their original form.
The purpose of this research-based thesis was to enhance comprehension regarding education export, with a focus on its opportunities and challenges, in order to promote the initiatives or activities of edu-cational export organizations, particularly in Finland within the broader global market.
he thesis was divided into two main parts. The theoretical content included chapters that explained the education export from general perspectives and the case of Finland's education export, including its challenges and opportunities. The data for this thesis were collected using the qualitative method, which supported the theoretical content. Additionally, empirical research was executed by interviewing lead-ers from diverse educational export companies.
The purpose of this thesis was addressed through the contribution of the findings. The first consensus among the informants related to the positive reputation and its high importance on attracting opportu-nities within the competitive market. The second consensus among the informants emphasized on the necessity of fostering alliance, and it was one of the most frequently mentioned propositions for future developments. Further, the most frequent responses among the informants were related to challenges, specifically insufficient resources and go-to-market obstacles. Additionally, the second most frequent answers concerned the creation of greater consortia in the sector of education.
This thesis found generalizability in the context of other fields, such as education. Furthermore, insights or general ideas were also offered to educational institutions regarding how challenges could be mini-mized and opportunities exploited before initiating their exportation initiatives.
