Tiivistelmä
The thesis takes into consideration opportunities for exporting Sri Lankan flavors to Lappeenranta, Finland. The research will determine the impact of preferences and cultural diversity of the customers, their awareness of the Asian cuisine, and market gaps on the viability of the introduction of the Sri Lankan cuisine in the city. The mixed-method approach was chosen, and the quantitative surveys of the residents, the foreign students, and the foreign migrants were implemented, the qualitative interviews with the restaurant owners and the culinary professionals. SPSS statistically compared quantitative data, and a theme analysis was performed to demonstrate the latent cultural and entrepreneurial data in the qualitative data.
The significance of the findings is that there is a rising demand for multicultural and healthy foods, which is enabled by the fact that Lappeenranta is experiencing the growth of demographic diversity and the increasing preference for Asian cuisines. Nevertheless, the lack of awareness about the cuisines of Sri Lanka and the prevalence Indian and Thai restaurants are also among the challenges that will necessitate some marketing and educational efforts. This paper has decided that the introduction of the Sri Lankan flavours in Lappeenranta can be referred to as a good business and cultural opportunity, which will not only be a supplementation of the gastronomic varieties but also an intercultural experience.
