Tiivistelmä
This study explores the use of blockchain technology in food supply chain management. The focus is on its advantages, difficulties, and possible future uses. The research was done through a qualitative method which was further supported by semi-structured interviews with eight respondents from various levels of the food supply chain like producers, distributors, and retailers. The purpose was to know how blockchain can improve transparency, traceability, efficiency, and food safety, as well as to study the attitudes and readiness of organizations to accept this new technology.

The research revealed that the blockchain technology has some major benefits including instantaneous product tracing, diminished deception, better trust, and greater precision of data, which in unity reinforce the food safety and quality assurance. Nevertheless, the issues linked to it are still very serious. The high cost of implementation, unavailability of trained personnel, poor infrastructure, and lack of political support were reported by the respondents as the most important factors hindering the adoption. The research also indicated that although most of the stakeholders have a positive attitude toward blockchain, the smaller enterprises still show that they are unwilling due to financial and knowledge barriers. Nevertheless, the interviewees were quite hopeful that the government support, training programs, and the cooperation between public and private sectors would drive the blockchain adoption in Nepalese food industry faster.

In general, the research specifies that using blockchain technology in the food supply chain of Nepal would create a transparent, trustworthy, and eco-friendly system. To make this happen, it is necessary that the policymakers, business leaders, and educational institutions collaborate to create the necessary conditions such as awareness, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks that support the successful implementation. The study may add significant understanding to the existing stream of research on blockchain use in developing countries and also offers practicable suggestions to the food industry who are interested in making supply chains in Nepal more trustworthy and sustainable.
