Tiivistelmä
Abstract
This research analyses the internship experiences of international students in Tourism and Hospitality Management in Finland and the skills they gain from them. Through a combination of surveys and interviews, the study reveals that language barriers, cultural differences, and difficulties securing paid placements are the main challenges students encounter. At the same time, internships lead to marked improvements in learning, helping students develop practical industry skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of multicultural customer service. The results show that internships play a significant role in shaping students’ professional readiness and future career goals. The study concludes that while internships are highly valuable, improved support systems and greater access to paid opportunities would further enhance the experience for international students.
