Tiivistelmä
This thesis highlighted the awareness, attitude, behaviour and practices among the college students in Finland. There is a specific gap between behaviour and attitude or sustainability tourism. Using simulated survey from 100 students from diverse academic, demographic background, the study investigates level of awareness, reported travel practices and barriers influencing sustainable choices. The findings reveal that familiarity with eco-friendly tourism concepts and highly supportive attitudes towards environmental protection, their actions—such as low-emission transport or minimizing waste remain consistent. Financial constraints, convenience and limited access to trustworthy information identified as the most significant obstacles. By the statistical analysis it is confirmed that a positive correlation between pro-sustainability attitudes and reported behaviours, underscoring the persistence of the “attitude behaviour gap.” The study recommends that both higher educational institutions and the tourism industry, emphasizing curriculum reform should be working unitedly.
