Tiivistelmä
This thesis examines the market feasibility of importing King coconut water from Sri Lanka to Finland as a natural sports drink. The study was driven by the Finnish consumer demand for natural hydration that is healthier than synthetic drinks that dominate the sports drink market. Sri Lanka is the primary producer of King coconut water, which is native to the country.
This research employs a mixed-method approach combining primary data from a consumer survey with secondary data from credible academic sources and market research reports. The study analyses the Finnish market context, expecting different segments to position a natural premium sports drink, and addresses challenges in certification, logistics, and marketing.
The thesis concludes with a mention of the extent to which the market feasibility for the importation of King coconut water is viable. Also, recommendations are included for overcoming potential challenges, as well as proposed further research ideas to increase the accuracy of results.
