A startup company in Eastern Finland, referred to as Company X in this thesis, is developing a new and easier way to diagnose sleep apnea with their new device. The main purpose of this thesis is to answer the question of “should Company X invest into North American market of sleep apnea diagnostics devices in North America?”. Sleep apnea is a condition which affects the lives of hundreds of millions of people globally, and market trend for sleep apnea diagnostic devices is growing.
This thesis includes a broad description of Company X, their new device, and sleep apnea. The research was done by using a competition analysis, SWOT analysis, and Porter’s Five Forces.
During the research process, 5 competing products were identified. These were then compared to Company X’s product. Finally, a recommendation to invest into North American markets was made based on these results.
Discussion in the end includes why this subject was chosen, what was learned during this thesis process, ethical considerations, advice for Company X, and recommendations and limitations.
