Employee turnover in educational sector is high in Nepal at present time which affects the organizations’ performance, finance, reputation and long-term strategy. There are various factors that cause employee turnover which is important to study in order to find out the major causes of employee turnover. Finding key factors that cause employee turnover helps to minimize the employee turnover, increase productivity, quality, reduce unwanted cost and achieve the goal effectively and efficiently.
Although numerous studies are done on the factors influencing employee turnover, the studies had not focused on the Nepalese public school system. Also, the employee turnover is increasing day by day though various research has been done. Therefore, this study focuses on evaluating the factors affecting employee turnover in Nepalese public school and their relationship with employee turnover.
The key objectives of this thesis is to examine the relationship of various factors including remuneration, career growth, job stress, peer relation and distance to workplace with employee turnover. This study focused to evaluate the impact of these factors on employee turnover in Nepalese public school.
Data was collected from the survey questionnaire and analysed by using IBM SPSS Version 29. Descriptive analysis is used to evaluate the demographic variables and measure the 5-points likert scale questionnaires. Person’s correlation is computed to find the relationship between the factors and multiple regression analysis is computed to examine the impact of various factors on employee turnover.
The analysis found that peer relation has significant relationship with employee turnover. Career growth and distance to workplace have positive insignificant relationship with employee turnover. Remuneration and job stress has negative insignificant relationship with employee turnover. Furthermore, the employees are neutral with turnover intention which means employees neither want to leave nor stay in their current job.
The findings of the study suggested that public school can minimize employee turnover by making better remuneration policy like giving salary on time, extra payment for extra work, insurance facilities and so on. Also, by giving importance towards the work distance factor like providing transportation facilities can help to minimize employee turnover in Nepalese public school.
